Vioxx
In October of 2004, Merck voluntarily recalled its arthritis drug Vioxx. While the Food and Drug Administration may have eventually issued a mandatory recall, Merck issued its own recall after studies demonstrated an increased risk for heart attack associated with the drug. At Robinson Calcagnie Robinson Shapiro Davis, Inc., our Vioxx attorneys have represented individuals and the families of individuals injured or killed as a result of taking Vioxx. Our firm was lead trial counsel in the only successful federal court Vioxx trial to date. On August 17, 2006 a federal jury awarded our client $51,000,000 in the case of Barnett v. Merck.
Through our work on the successful Barnett trial, and in representing other victims of Vioxx, our offices have accumulated a vast database of evidence and literature regarding the drug, from its early development to recent studies, and we have assembled a team of world class scientists, physicians and medical and scientific experts and consultants to assist us in pursuing our clients’ cases.
